Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has diluted his control of the club to comply with UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules, as the team aims for Champions League qualification.
Marinakis also owns Olympiakos, and UEFA prohibits clubs with the same owner from competing in the same European competitions.
Documents show he’s no longer a “person with significant control” at Forest, with shares placed in a blind trust.
Aclub source confirmed to BBC Sport that he remains the owner. Co-owner Sokratis Kominakis rejoins the board as part of the changes.
Forest are currently sixth in the Premier League, eyeing a Champions League spot, while Olympiakos lead their league.
UEFA will assess the changes, similar to past cases involving Manchester City/Girona and Manchester United/Nice.
Meanwhile, ex-Arsenal director Edu is tipped for a global role within Marinakis’ group. The ownership adjustments signal Forest’s proactive steps towards potential Champions League participation.
