Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has told his underperforming squad they have a “big responsibility” to win the Europa League to save their dismal season.
This comes after another Premier League defeat, a 4-3 loss to Brentford on Sunday, which leaves them 15th.
Despite their poor league form, six games without a win, United hold a 3-0 lead over Athletic Bilbao in their Europa League semi-final.
Amorim rested key players against Brentford, clearly prioritizing Thursday’s second leg at Old Trafford.
“We have a big responsibility (to win the Europa League),” Amorim stated, emphasizing its importance for Champions League qualification.
While acknowledging the difficulty of balancing competitions, his focus is firmly on European success as a means to redeem their disappointing domestic campaign.
