Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has indicated that fans may have to wait until 2042 for a new stadium.
He told Bloomberg the project is a significant undertaking in London and could take 15 to 20 years to realize.
Boehly acknowledged that Stamford Bridge’s 40,173 capacity is insufficient for a club of Chelsea’s stature, especially compared to rivals like Arsenal and Tottenham with larger, modern grounds.
Previous attempts to build a new stadium at sites like Battersea Power Station and Earl’s Court have failed.
While long-term infrastructure plans are ongoing, Chelsea’s immediate focus is on their upcoming Conference League match against Djurgardens and a Premier League fixture against Newcastle.
