The Entebbe Stanbic Matchplay 2025 entered a critical stage with Round Three action played on Saturday, May 10, at the Entebbe Golf Club, featuring 160 participants and a blend of competitive intensity and camaraderie.
Top performers in the men’s and ladies’ stroke-play categories showcased consistency and poise, with Sheila Ajok leading the ladies’ leaderboard after carding an impressive 40 points off a handicap of 46.
She was followed by Florence Keter (36 pts, H/C 42), Maureen Okura (33 pts, H/C 18), and national team player Martha Babirye (32 pts, H/C 5), who also won the Longest Drive contest among the ladies.
In the men’s category, Paul Habyarimana (H/C 5) and Bob Matsiko (H/C 21) emerged joint top with 38 points apiece. They were closely trailed by Michael Sekadde, Kenneth Kiddu, and Tony Kisadha, all on 36 points, with Henry Baguma a point behind on 35.
The matchplay section of the tournament—which is played in a knockout format—delivered drama and suspense as eight tightly contested matches concluded Round Three.
The pairing of Yunus Bbaale and Anthony Agaba edged out Twijukye Kirarira and Richard Mucunguzi 1UP after a first sudden-death hole, while Edimu Milton and Lloyd Busuulwa narrowly beat Kariisa John and Alex Orima James.
Other victors included Evelyne Atukunda and Ellis Katwebaze, who survived a two-hole sudden-death playoff to eliminate Ojok Tony and Thomas Nuwamara.
Meanwhile, the team of Mugisha Richard and Tumukunde Louis secured the most comfortable win of the round, defeating Mpanga David and Walera Phillip 3/2.
In the side bets, Kudzai Manyeza claimed Nearest to the Pin among the ladies, while Agamile Samson took top honors in the Longest Drive category for men.
Attention now shifts to Round Four, scheduled for June 7, with the following matches set:
