Lewis Hamilton revelled in the passionate Ferrari “tifosi” during his first home race for the team at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
The seven-time champion, who switched from Mercedes, finished a strong fourth from 12th on the grid, describing the “sea of red” as “really special” and “vintage.”
“Wow! What a day. I am so happy,” Hamilton exclaimed, praising the team’s strategy and his communication with his engineer. “It was mega! I was hoping for some extra laps, and maybe we could have fought for a podium.”
Meanwhile, teammate Charles Leclerc finished sixth after a challenging race from 11th, expressing frustration with qualifying pace and a controversial battle with Alex Albon.
Team boss Fred Vasseur noted the strong race pace but lamented the starting positions.
