Magera Urges Caution Ahead of Uganda Cup Semifinal Return Leg Against Kataka

KCCA interim head coach Jackson Magera Kaddu has warned his team not to underestimate Kataka despite holding a comfortable 3-0 advantage heading into the second leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinal on Sunday in Mbale.

Speaking ahead of the fixture at Mbale City Stadium, Magera emphasized the importance of staying focused, describing the upcoming clash as a “whole different encounter” regardless of the first leg result.

“The game will not be an easy one. Forget the first leg score; this is a whole different encounter altogether. We will go there and play for a win,” Magera said.

“We must be alert and ready for a battle in Mbale.”

Magera also gave a fitness update on his squad, noting that while strikers Etienne Katenga and Derrick Nsibambi have returned to full team training, they are not yet match fit.

He confirmed that defender Hassan Muhamud remains sidelined due to a facial injury, while Shafik Kwikiriza is out with illness.

“The rest of the members of the squad are okay and available for selection,” Magera added.

KCCA will be aiming to complete the job in Mbale and progress to the final of the 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, where they seek to extend their record to 11 titles.

The club eliminated Kaaro Karungi in the quarterfinals, while Kataka reached this stage by knocking out Police on penalties.

The final will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Kadiba Stadium in Mengo.
