Reports: Left-back Achayi agrees deal to join NEC from Express

Massively experienced defender and left-back Herbert Achayi has reached mutual terms with Uganda Premier League side NEC FC on a move in the forthcoming transfer window.

The 25-year-old will leave seven-time Uganda Premier League and 10-time Uganda Cup champions Express FC at the end of the season, putting an end to his one-year spell, and join NEC.

At NEC, according to reliable sources at the club, Achayi will sign a two-year employment contract, which will keep him with the Diehards at least until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

Experience Garnered Over The Years – A Winner

The versatile player joined Express from his boyhood club and 13-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC at the start of this season.

He is a two-time Uganda Premier League and one-time Uganda Cup champion, silverware he won with KCCA previously.

At Express this season, he has played 26 Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup games, playing in numerous roles, as deployed by head coach Badru Kaddu.

At KCCA, across four seasons, he featured in 123 games, scoring six goals with 13 assists across all competitions, including the CAF Champions League.

National Team Expeditions

While he hasn’t received senior national team (Uganda Cranes) call-ups in recent times, he has previously managed to rack up four competitive caps in the shirt. In the past, he has featured for the youth U-20 national side.
