Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted at his departure from Saudi club Al-Nassr with a cryptic social media post, sparking intense speculation he could join a team for next month’s Club World Cup in the United States.
The 40-year-old, whose Al-Nassr contract ends next month, posted “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written.” after his team failed to qualify for the Club World Cup.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently suggested Ronaldo might play in the tournament, stating there are “discussions with some clubs.”
A special transfer window (June 1-10) allows Club World Cup participants to sign players.
While Ronaldo’s high wages are a hurdle, a short-term deal to feature in the prestigious 32-team tournament remains a possibility, with Brazilian clubs like Botafogo among those linked.
