The second leg of the 2025 I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series will take place this Saturday, May 31, at Entebbe Club’s par-71 course, featuring a new and unconventional playing format titled ‘For Better or Worse’.
In this format, participants will play in mixed pairs, each golfer playing their own ball. Teams will choose nine holes where their better score will count and another nine where the worse score will be used.
For the nine “better score” holes, players will be limited to using only four clubs each. The scoring will follow the Stableford points system.
The Katogo Series, a standout addition to the Uganda Golf Union calendar, continues to distinguish itself through playful formats and lively off-course experiences. The second leg follows a successful season opener held in March.
“Saturday is going to be a fun-filled day on the course because we are playing in a totally new format,” said Elly Kibuka Mukasa, Captain of the Katogo Series. “This is what sets the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series apart—we always give golfers a fresh feel every time we meet. As usual, our 19th hole experience will be nothing short of entertaining.”
Mukasa confirmed there will be prizes for the top five male pairs, top three female pairs, and winners of side bets.
In the buildup to Saturday’s event, the series continued its tradition of interactive engagement, running daily trivia questions related to the tournament and its sponsors. Winners will receive bottles of Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve during the post-tournament festivities.
Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communication at I&M Bank, emphasized the event’s role in community building.
“The I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series has become one of the most exciting events on the local golf scene,” Nakiyaga said. “Together with our partners, we’ve planned something special that every golfer shouldn’t miss.”
This weekend’s event also features a hole-in-one prize: an Outlander Sport (X-force), courtesy of Victoria Motors and insured by GA Insurance. The 19th hole celebrations will include cocktails and bottle offers from Johnnie Walker Uganda.
Case Hospital joins the list of sponsors for the 2025 season, providing on-site medical support. The 19th hole will also carry a football theme, with guests encouraged to wear jerseys representing their favorite clubs or national teams.
The I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series is supported by Johnnie Walker, Victoria Motors, GA Insurance, RwandAir, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Kampala Serena Hotel, Fenon Events, Goldman’s Luxury, NBS Sport, Case Hospital, and Time Cop Security.
