Uganda Women’s National Team Head Coach Sheryl Botes has named a 20-player squad for the 2025 CECAFA Women’s Championship set to take place from 12th to 21st June in Chamazi, Tanzania.
The selection is largely composed of players from Uganda’s domestic competitions, with forward Margaret Kunihira—who plies her trade with Caessia Queens LFC in Tanzania—the only foreign-based inclusion.
The Crested Cranes, defending champions of the regional tournament, will face hosts Tanzania, Kenya, Burundi, and South Sudan in a round-robin format at the Azam Complex.
The team is scheduled to assemble at 2 PM on Sunday, 8th June, at the FUFA Hotel in Kisaasi. Training begins the following day at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, while departure for Tanzania is set for Tuesday, 10th June.
Botes’ selection includes standout players from reigning FUFA Women Super League champions Kampala Queens FC, with multiple call-ups also coming from Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, and Makerere University WFC.
