England secured a narrow 1-0 victory over a resilient Andorra today, with captain Harry Kane’s 450th career goal proving the difference in their World Cup qualifier.
The win keeps England top of Group K, but the performance was far from convincing against opponents ranked 173rd in the world.
Despite dominating possession, Thomas Tuchel’s side were booed off at halftime, unable to break down Andorra’s stubborn defence.
Kane finally scored five minutes into the second half, tapping in after a rebound from Noni Madueke’s cross.
The uninspired display will give Tuchel pause for thought, despite the vital three points.
England, who are in a training camp in Barcelona, will now look for a more fluid performance when they face Senegal in a friendly on Tuesday.
