Manchester City have confirmed the £46.5 million signing of AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders on a five-year deal, making him Pep Guardiola’s fourth summer acquisition.
The Netherlands international, 26, is eligible for the upcoming Club World Cup in America and could debut on June 18 against Wydad FC.
Reijnders expressed his excitement, stating, “I am ecstatic to be signing for Manchester City… I want to help keep that going with a lot more success.”
He joins after a stellar season with Milan, where he scored 15 goals and was named Serie A’s Midfielder of the Season.
His arrival, alongside Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rayan Cherki, strengthens City’s squad following Kevin De Bruyne’s departure, underscoring their ambition for the Club World Cup.
Football journalist Daniele Verri noted, “He will slot in very well at City… he will love working with Guardiola.”
Reijnders is expected to provide much-needed physicality and dynamism to City’s midfield as they aim to improve on last season’s third-place Premier League finish.
