Statewide Insurance Company (SWICO) has announced a UGX 15 million contribution towards the 14th edition of the Rotary Cancer Run, set for August 31, 2025.
The company made the announcement during a press conference on Thursday at its head office in Kampala, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and the wellbeing of communities across Uganda.
In addition to the financial donation, SWICO will also support the distribution of cancer run kits through its nationwide branch network, aiming to boost participation and accessibility for the public.
The Rotary Cancer Run, organized by the Rotary Uganda Cancer Program, has grown into one of the country’s biggest health-focused charity events.
Since its inception, it has raised more than UGX 7.6 billion, with funds channeled toward building a state-of-the-art Cancer Treatment Centre at Nsambya Hospital.
This year’s run aims to raise UGX 11.8 billion to further expand the centre’s capacity. The funds will be used to construct two radiotherapy bunkers, equip them with advanced LINAC radiotherapy machines, and train specialized cancer care professionals.
The 2025 edition will take place over two days and feature a national medical expo, five major runs including the flagship event at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, and more than 60 mini-runs both within Uganda and abroad. Organizers expect over 60,000 participants to join the cause.
For more than four decades, SWICO has played a leading role in Uganda’s insurance industry. But its impact goes beyond business. The company has consistently backed efforts that strengthen community health and support vulnerable groups.
The 14th Rotary Cancer Run is expected to bring together Ugandans from all walks of life—alongside global supporters—in a united front against preventable cancer deaths, through early detection, accessible treatment, and continued public awareness.
