Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho was once again triumphant with his club, Young Africans SC, in Tanzania.
Wananchi defeated Singida Black Stars 2-0 at the new Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on Sunday to lift the CRDB Bank Federation Cup.
Duke Abuya and Clement Mzize scored the goals in the 44th and 60th minutes, respectively.
The victory capped off an already remarkable week for Yanga, who secured their record-extending 31st league title on Wednesday at the expense of fierce rivals Simba SC.
Aucho played the full match against a club that previously employed Ugandan coaches Matia Lule and Billy Kiggundu.
This was Yanga’s fifth Federation Cup triumph. Just like in the league, where they have dominated for the last four consecutive seasons, they have now won the Federation Cup four times in a row.
With this season’s victory, Yanga moves one Federation Cup ahead of Simba, who have claimed the title four times.
