Philip Wokorach has won the Emerging Player of the Season award at the 2025 India Rugby Premier League.
Wokorach featured for the Bengaluru Bravehearts in the six-franchise tournament which was being played for the first time ever.
He scored twelve tries in twelve matches played to rank second on the top try scorers’ charts behind eventual champion and Overall Player of the Season Vaafauese Apelu Maliko (15 tries).
Adding two conversions brought his tally to a total sixty-four points, which was the fourth highest in the league.

Wokorach was not only finisher but also playmaker and creator for his teammates. He assisted five tries and completed seventeen offloads.
This inspired Bengaluru Bravehearts to a third place finish in the round robin phase. But it was not enough to clinch the bronze medal in the playoffs.

The only blot on Wokorach’s report card was the single yellow card he was shown during the round robin phase.
Wokorach received a 300,000 Indian Rupees cash prize (about UGX 12.6 million) with the Emerging Player of the Season award.

“I came solo but I’m going back with a big family in my heart & I’m so grateful for this opportunity,” Wokorach said when he received his award and cheque.
There is no doubt that should there be a second season of this star-studded tournament, Wokorach will be drafted as a big name marquee player.
