Vivo Energy Uganda, the company behind Shell-branded fuels in the country, has signed on as the Official Logistics Partner for the 2025 Rugby Africa Cup.
The announcement was made in Kampala on Thursday, confirming that Shell FuelSave Diesel and Shell Rimula lubricants will power all team and operational transport during the tournament.
The Rugby Africa Cup, hosted by the Uganda Rugby Union (URU), will run from July 8 to 19 and also serves as the African qualifier for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
Eight nations — Uganda, Zimbabwe, Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Namibia, Senegal, and Burkina Faso — are expected to compete.
URU President Godwin Kayangwe welcomed the partnership, saying the involvement of Vivo Energy Uganda will ensure smooth and efficient movement of teams and staff throughout the tournament.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Geoffrey Elyanu, Head of Supply and Distribution, said the collaboration reflects Shell’s broader commitment to sports and community development.
“We’re not just fuelling buses and vans. We’re fuelling dreams across the continent,” he said.
Alinafe Mkavea, Chief Commercial Officer at Vivo Energy Uganda, added that the partnership is an opportunity to showcase the reliability and efficiency of Shell FuelSave Diesel and Shell Rimula in high-stakes sporting environments.
The deal builds on Vivo Energy Uganda’s existing footprint in motorsport and motocross, reinforcing its role in strengthening Uganda’s capacity to host regional sporting events.
