Uganda Rugby Cranes’ technical bench named their final twenty-eight man squad for the 2025 men’s Rugby Africa Cup.
Twenty-eight is the maximum number of players allowed on a team list for the tournament which will be played at the Mandela National Stadium Namboole from July 8-19.
As a cover for injury, it is a routine for teams to have more players on standby — just in case any of the twenty-eight is unable to continue in the tournament. These players are known as ‘non-playing reserves.’
The Rugby Cranes have two names on their non-playing reserves list; Emmanuel Kiyaga and Innocent Gwokto.
Kiyaga will provide cover for the forwards (front row) and Gwokto will do so for the backs (midfield).
This is a reduction from six during last year’s edition, of which none was used.
Meanwhile, Rugby Cranes conducted an open media training session at Legends Rugby Grounds on Saturday afternoon. This was their final session before checking into the team hotel for the Rugby Africa Cup.
Uganda will face Kenya in the first match (quarterfinal) at 4 p.m. EAT on Tuesday, July 8.
