Davide Ancelotti, son of acclaimed manager Carlo Ancelotti, is set to take his first senior managerial role with Brazilian Serie A club Botafogo.
The 35-year-old, who has served as his father’s assistant since 2012 at top clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, will formally join Botafogo this week.
This move marks a significant step for Ancelotti Jr., despite his recent decision to join his father’s coaching staff with the Brazil national team.
He had reportedly considered offers from European clubs but chose Botafogo.
Interestingly, his new role might not conflict with his national team duties, as his contract with the CBF is not fixed and doesn’t require him to live in Brazil.
Ancelotti replaces Renato Paiva, who stepped down after Botafogo’s Club World Cup exit.
He is not expected to be on the bench for Saturday’s league match against Vasco da Gama, with interim boss Claudio Cacapa continuing in charge.
