Rugby Cranes, Kenya Simbas Go All-out For 2025 Men’s Africa Cup Opener

Uganda and Kenya have named their squads for the quarterfinal match of the 2025 men’s Rugby Africa Cup. Both have assembled twenty-three men whose names have been received by fans with renewed faith and confidence.

Byron Oketayot and George Nyambua will lead the Rugby Cranes and Kenya Simbas respectively as captains, continuing from whence they stopped during the 2023 season.

Oketayot will bank on the experience of Santos Senteza and Pius Ogena in the pack plus Joseph Aredo and Philip Wokorach in the line.

These veterains will lead the likes of Fahad Maido and Isaac Massanganzira who will play test rugby in front of the home fans for the first time.

Uganda Rugby Cranes squad vs Kenya in 2025 men’s Rugby Africa Cup Quarterfinal:

Starting: 1 Santos Senteza, 2 Nathan Bwambale, 3 Fahad Maido, 4 Julius Opio, 5 Sydney Gongodyo, 6 Frank Kidega (vice-captain), 7 Byron Oketayot (captain), 8 Pius Ogena, 9 Aaron Ofoyrwoth, 10 Joseph Aredo, 11 Adrian Kasito, 12 Isaac Massanganzira, 13 Ian Munyani, 14 Ivan Otema, 15 Philip Wokorach.

Substitutes: 16 Edward Emiemu, 17 Blair Ayebazibwe, 18 Saul Kivumbi, 19 Eliphaz Emong, 20 Alex Aturinda, 21 Conrad Wanyama (vice-captain), 22 Liam Walker, 23 Timothy Kisiga.

Nyambua, on the other hand, leads an equally experienced and promising squad. Youngster Andycole Omolo has risen through the age-grade ranks to the second row while veteran Jone Kubu provides security at the back.

Starting: 1 Ephraim Oduor, 2 Eugen Sifuna, 3 Wilhite Mususi, 4 George Nyambua (captain), 5 Andycole Omolo, 6 Thomas Okeyo, 7 Patrick Sabatiya, 8 Bethuel Anami, 9 Samuel Asati, 10 Barry Young, 11 Griffin Chao, 12 Walter Okoth, 13 Bryceson Adaka, 14 Timothy Omela, 15 Jone Kubu.

Substitutes: 16 Teddy Akala, 17 Edward Mwaura, 18 Vincent Mwikhali, 19 Hibrahim Ayoo, 20 David Bunduki, 21 Obat Kuke, 22 Brian Tanga, 23 John Okoth.

This match, in which there will be contests aplenty, will kick off at 4 p.m. local time (EAT) and will be broadcast live on NBS Sport.
