American fifth seed Taylor Fritz has advanced to his first Wimbledon semi-final, overcoming a mid-match struggle against Russia’s Karen Khachanov.
Fritz initially dominated, taking a two-set lead, but surprisingly lost the third set 6-1.
Despite a medical timeout for a foot issue and even a brief electronic line call malfunction, the 27-year-old rallied.
He secured the decisive fourth set in a tie-break, winning the match 6-3 6-4 1-6 7-6 (7-4).
Now, the world number five aims to end the long wait for a male American Grand Slam winner, a drought stretching back to Andy Roddick’s 2003 US Open title.
Fritz will face the winner of the match between defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the last four.
