Ugandan defender Kenneth Ssemakula has sealed a move to Kuwaiti giants Al Arabi SC, signing a two-year contract after leaving Tunisian outfit Club Africain.
Ssemakula, who can play as a centre-back, right-back or holding midfielder, arrives in Kuwait with valuable experience from both club and international football.
During his stint in Tunisia, Ssemakula featured in 20 matches — 19 of those in the league — and registered one assist.
Al Arabi SC are one of Kuwait’s most successful clubs, having won the Premier League 17 times.
They narrowly missed out on the title last season, finishing second with 50 points, just five behind rivals and record holders Kuwait SC.
Ssemakula’s move comes after a standout 2023/24 campaign where he captained SC Villa to their 17th Uganda Premier League title. His domestic rise began at BUL FC before making his mark with Villa.
Internationally, Ssemakula first appeared on the scene with the Uganda Hippos during the 2019 CECAFA U-20 Championship and quickly earned a call-up to the senior national team the same year.
He has since earned 13 caps for the Cranes.
