KCCA have tied down one of their most loyal servants, Fillbert Obenchan, to a new two-year contract that will keep him at the MTN Omondi Stadium until 2027.
The versatile defender, who graduated from the KCCA academy and broke into the senior team in 2017, has become a pillar in the Kasasiro Boys’ backline.
Known for his tough tackling, leadership on the pitch, and ability to play across multiple defensive positions, Obenchan’s presence has been vital in both domestic and continental competitions.
Now one of the longest-serving players at the club, Obenchan has spent over a decade at Lugogo, sharing the dressing room with fellow stalwarts like Peter Magambo and Julius Poloto.
His leadership qualities have seen him rise to the role of vice-captain, often wearing the armband in the absence of captain Poloto.
“This club is my home,” Obenchan said after signing. “I grew up here, and everything I’ve achieved in football started here. The fans, the staff, and my teammates have always believed in me. I’m proud to continue this journey and give my all for KCCA.”
Last season in the Uganda Premier League, Obenchan featured in 15 league matches, starting 14, and racked up 1246 minutes with an impressive average of 83 minutes per game.
Despite injuries limiting his time on the pitch, he remained a consistent and dependable figure when called upon.
During his time at KCCA FC, Obenchan has collected a solid trophy haul, including:
- Uganda Premier League (2018/19)
- Uganda Cup (2018)
- CECAFA Kagame Cup (2019)
- FUFA Super 8 (2018)
- FUFA Super Cups (2018, 2019)
- CAF Champions League group stage appearance (2018)
