Uganda Cranes international Bevis Mugabi has completed a move to English League Two side Carlisle United, signing a two-year contract.
Mugabi, 30, arrives from Cypriot side Anorthosis, where he made 17 appearances and scored twice.
Though born in England, the towering defender has been a key figure for the Uganda national team, earning 20 caps and scoring once since making his debut in 2018.
His experience on the international stage with Uganda adds a major boost to Carlisle’s defensive line, as the club looks to rebuild following relegation from League One.
Mugabi started his professional journey with Fulham and Southampton’s youth setups before establishing himself at Yeovil Town, where he played over 100 games.
He later spent five seasons at Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, clocking up 125 appearances and seven goals.
Carlisle’s Head of Recruitment Martin Foyle praised the signing, saying, “Bevis is an experienced defender. He brings leadership from international football and has a fantastic attitude that will help raise standards in the squad.”
The deal is subject to international clearance.
