Oleksandr Usyk cemented his status as a boxing great today, stopping Daniel Dubois in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion.
In front of 90,000 fans, the 38-year-old Ukrainian delivered a masterclass, ending Dubois’s hopes of unifying the division.
Usyk, who also defeated Dubois in 2023, dropped him twice in the fifth, with the second knockdown proving decisive. This victory extends Usyk’s perfect professional record to 24 wins.
“Nothing is next. It’s enough. Next, I want to rest,” Usyk told DAZN, emphasizing his immediate desire for time with his family.
For 27-year-old Dubois, this marks his third career defeat, all by stoppage. He had recently defended his IBF title against Anthony Joshua.
“I have to commend him on the performance, I gave everything I had,” a gracious Dubois told DAZN.
Usyk reclaimed the IBF title, adding it to his WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC belts.
The atmosphere at Wembley was electric, with boxing legends and fellow contenders like Joseph Parker watching on. Usyk’s famed slickness and precision were on full display, consistently punishing Dubois.
The decisive blow came in the fifth with a crisp right to the temple that sent Dubois down. Though he bravely beat the count, a subsequent left hook landed clean, prompting Dubois’s corner to throw in the towel.
