Arsenal have finalized the signing of highly-rated defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia for an initial fee of £13 million.
The 21-year-old Spanish U21 international has penned a five-year contract with an option for an additional year.
Mosquera, who can play at both centre-back and right-back, fills the gap left by the departure of Takehiro Tomiyasu.
He’s celebrated for his versatility and impressive availability, having played almost every minute of Valencia’s La Liga campaign last season.
He joins a growing list of summer recruits for Mikel Arteta’s squad, including Martin Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga, with Viktor Gyokeres also reportedly close to signing.
Mosquera will link up with the team on their pre-season tour in Asia, where Arsenal recently beat AC Milan and are set to face Newcastle United. His arrival is expected to significantly boost Arsenal’s defensive options for the upcoming season.
