The DWOG Pacu Tournament has entered its semifinal stage, raising excitement and tension across the Lango sub-region as four constituencies battle for a spot in the historic final.
This is the first edition of the tournament, and it has already drawn massive interest, with all 21 constituencies in Lango fielding teams.
After a competitive group stage, eight teams advanced to the quarterfinals, which kicked off on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the Uganda Technical College (UTC) Lira playground.
In the opening quarterfinal, Kyoga County dominated Apac Municipality with a commanding 3-0 win. Ambrose Kigozi, the current top scorer in the 2024/2025 FUFA Big League, broke the deadlock in the 49th minute before Denis Okello and Emor Geoffrey added two quick goals in the 51st and 58th minutes.
Dokolo North booked their place in the semifinals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Otuke East. The only goal came just a minute into the game, scored by Police FC forward James Brian Obedi.
Lira City West Division lit up the tournament with a stunning 4-0 win over Maruzi County. Zeno Ogwal struck early in the 2nd minute, followed by a goal from Gum in the 15th. Kirya Christopher then sealed the result with a late brace in the 79th and 89th minutes.
The final quarterfinal match, played on Tuesday, July 23, saw Erute North breeze past Otuke Constituency with a 3-0 win. Opio Emmanuel opened the scoring in the 25th minute, before Sunday Ojok and Simon Olupot added two more in the second half.
The semifinals are now set. Kyoga County will face Dokolo North on Saturday, July 26 at 3 PM. The following day, Lira City West Division will take on Erute North.
Both matches will be held at the UTC Lira playground, where fans have continued to show strong support for their local teams.
