The 2025 Kabaka Coronation Rugby 7s will double as a platform for community building and public health awareness. The first circuit of this year’s Nile Special 7s is scheduled for August 2-3 at Mutessa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
Organized under the theme “Men Against AIDS to Save the Girl Child,” the event will blend rugby, culture, and royalty to promote both sport and social causes.
Reigning champions Platinum Credit Heathens will be aiming to retain the title and secure a record-extending 13th crown.
At a press conference held in Kireka on Wednesday, organizers unveiled Eurofoam as the tournament’s official safety partner. Uganda Rugby Union trustee Prince David Wasajja welcomed the sponsorship, saying it would boost logistical and safety aspects of the tournament.
“The sponsorship includes both safety items and cash support for the Kabaka’s Coronation Rugby 7s. This contribution is vital not only for player safety but also for the smooth running of the event,” said Wasajja.
Organizing committee chairman Charles Senteza highlighted the tournament’s broader impact.
“This event is a strategic collaboration with the Uganda Rugby Union to showcase the kingdom’s commitment to rugby. But beyond sport, we’re focusing on community engagement and public health awareness,” he said.
Jinja-based Walukuba Barbarians and Avengers won last year’s circuit events.
