betPawa Backs the Gazelles’ Bold Surge for Gold at FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2025

In the sun-soaked arenas of Côte d’Ivoire, where the rhythm of African basketball beats its loudest, the Uganda Gazelles are poised for greatness at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2025.

From July 25 to August 3, this fearless squad, backed by the powerful support of Africa’s leading gaming brand, betPawa, is chasing gold with the kind of swagger that’s unapologetically Ugandan.

Cameroon Clash Awaits Uganda in U16 AfroBasket Quarters

Their journey begins with an electric clash against Guinea on July 27, followed by a showdown with continental giants Senegal on July 28.

But this isn’t just a basketball tournament, it’s a defining chapter in Uganda’s sporting story, and the Gazelles are writing it with fire in their hearts.

Since March 2024, betPawa has stood shoulder to shoulder with the Gazelles, fueling their rise with a UGX 150,000 win bonus per match.

That commitment has gone far beyond financial support. It has sparked belief, drive, and a new level of excellence.

From the moment betPawa came on board, the Gazelles have surged with unstoppable momentum, not just winning games, but reshaping what’s possible for women’s basketball in Africa.

Their road to AfroBasket 2025 reads like something out of a sports epic. On February 8 in Cairo, the Gazelles stunned the basketball world by defeating Egypt 74–63 in the Zone 5 Qualifiers, a defiant, dominant performance that saw them crowned champions.

It was a message loud and clear: Ugandan women are not here to participate, they’re here to lead.

At the heart of that charge is forward Jane Asinde, whose performance against Egypt, 19 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, turned heads and lit up highlight reels.

Her play embodies the fearless style the Gazelles now own. Through the qualifiers, the team averaged 18.8 points, 10 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game, turning heads across the continent.

Their momentum hasn’t slowed. Just days before the AfroBasket opener, they faced Cameroon in a friendly match in Cairo, and won 69–62 in a gritty, commanding display that showed they’re not just ready; they’re dangerous.

This is what happens when passion meets purpose. When talent is backed by belief. betPawa’s UGX 150,000 match bonus has become more than an incentive, it’s a symbol of possibility, a catalyst for ambition.

That small number carries a big message: every win matters, every effort counts, and every game is a chance to rise.

Wearing the betPawa logo on their jerseys, the Gazelles carry more than sponsorship, they carry a movement. It’s a partnership forged in resilience, united by a shared vision: to elevate Ugandan sport to new, stratospheric heights.

As they step onto the courts of Abidjan, they are not alone. They carry the dreams of a nation. From the bustling streets of Kampala to living rooms across Africa, one message echoes loud and clear: “Go Gazelles!”

This isn’t just about chasing a trophy. It’s about rewriting the narrative. It’s about courage, unity, and the relentless pursuit of glory.

And with betPawa in their corner, the Uganda Gazelles are more than contenders, they’re a movement on the edge of history.

Watch out, Africa, the Gazelles are coming for gold.
