Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka announced on Monday that she has split with her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, after less than a year of working together.
Osaka, a former world No. 1, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Merci Patrick… it was such a great experience learning from you.”
The Japanese star joined forces with the renowned French coach, famously known for his long and successful partnership with 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, in September of last year.
The separation comes as Osaka continues to navigate her return to professional tennis. She took a hiatus in 2023 following the birth of her daughter and has since faced challenges in regaining her consistent form.
Currently ranked 49th in the world, Osaka exited this year’s French Open in the first round and Wimbledon in the third round.
