The Kabaka Coronation 7s will be the first of seven stops on the 2025 Nile Special Uganda Rugby 7s calendar. It will be played from August 2-3 at the Kyadondo Rugby Club.
Draws for the men’s and women’s pools in this Kabaka Coronation 7s event have been held on Tuesday morning. This was during a live broadcast on NBS Sport.
The women’s competition will feature six core sides; Avengers, Black Pearls, Thunderbirds, Nile Rapids, She Wolves and Walukuba Titans (promoted last year).
Two non-core teams; Ewes and Panthers have been invited from the Central Region.
Women’s Pools for the 2025 Kabaka Coronation 7s (non-core invitational team*):
• POOL A: Avengers, Nile Rapids, She Wolves, Panthers*.
• POOL B: Black Pearls, Thunderbirds, Walukuba Titans, Ewes*.
The men’s competition has twelve core teams; Platinum Credit Heathens, Stanbic Black Pirates, Toyota Buffaloes, KCB KOBs, Jinja Hippos, Walukuba Barbarians, Rhinos, Plascon Mongers, Lifeguard Rams, Elgon Wolves plus the newly promoted duo of Kampani Eagles and Gulu City Falcons.
Four non-core teams will join from the Central Region. They are; Victoria Sharks, Impis, Warriors and Kisubi Pacers.

• POOL A: Heathens, Walukuba Barbarians, Eagles, Kisubi Pacers*.
• POOL B: Pirates, Hippos, Elgon Wolves, Victoria Sharks*.
• POOL C: Buffaloes, Rhinos, Gulu City Falcons, Warriors*.
• POOL D: KOBs, Mongers, Rams, Impis*.
At a glance, the pool of death among them all is B in the men’s competition but on a closer look, each of the six pools has a spicy affair to look out for on the opening day.
Final Rankings of the 2024 Uganda National Rugby 7s Series (Relegated*):
Holders Avengers and Heathens will attempt to defend their titles by finishing the series with the highest total points tally.
NBS Sport will produce and broadcast the Kabaka Coronation 7s live from Kyadondo Rugby Club.
