Top seed Coco Gauff came back from a set down to defeat Veronika Kudermetova 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 at the Canadian Open in Montreal. Gauff, the world number two, is now in the final 16.
In the men’s draw in Toronto, third seed Lorenzo Musetti was upset by Alex Michelsen, who won 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Michelsen’s victory sets up an all-American fourth-round match.
Other notable results include fourth seed Mirra Andreeva’s exit in the women’s draw, and wins for Casper Ruud and Francisco Cerundolo in the men’s competition.
