The San Antonio Spurs have locked up their backcourt for the foreseeable future, agreeing to a reported four-year, $229 million contract extension with star guard De’Aaron Fox.
The deal, which was announced on Monday, will keep the 27-year-old with the team through the 2029-30 season.
Acquired from the Sacramento Kings in a mid-season trade, Fox’s brief tenure with the Spurs last year was cut short by a finger injury. In 17 games, he averaged 19.7 points and 6.8 assists.
His career highlights include an All-Star nod and an All-NBA third-team selection in the 2022-23 season.
Fox now joins a formidable young core that includes Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, who won back-to-back Rookie of the Year awards.
The team also added two promising prospects in the 2025 NBA Draft, taking guard Dylan Harper at No. 2 and wing Carter Bryant at No. 14.
