A sensational debut from midfielder Tijjani Reijnders fueled Manchester City’s dominant 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday.
The summer signing from AC Milan was directly involved in three goals, helping City start their new season in emphatic fashion.
Erling Haaland bagged a brace, opening the scoring in the 34th minute before adding his second after the hour mark.
Reijnders was the architect behind both goals, first setting up Rico Lewis for the assist on the opener and then providing a clever pass for Haaland’s second.
The Dutchman also found the back of the net himself, coolly slotting home just four minutes after Haaland’s first goal. Substitute Rayan Cherki rounded off the scoring with a late strike.
City’s victory was also built on a solid defensive performance, with debutant goalkeeper James Trafford keeping a clean sheet.
