The Uganda Rugby Union has announced a change of venue for the upcoming Plascon Entebbe 7s, set for August 23–24, 2025.
Initially scheduled to take place at the Works Grounds in Entebbe, the tournament will now be hosted at the Sai Pali Institute of Technology & Management, Entebbe Campus in Kawuku, along Bwerenga Road. The decision was reached after unforeseen circumstances made the original venue unavailable.
According to the Uganda Sevens Committee and the Plascon Mongers Rugby Club, the new location offers fresh opportunities for both players and fans. With the institute’s students currently on holiday, the facility can provide on-site accommodation for teams, meals, and even camping spaces for supporters.
Additional lodging options in the neighborhood have also been identified for teams, officials, and fans.
This will be the first time the Sai Pali Institute hosts a rugby event, and organizers believe the move could open the door for it to become a regular venue for future tournaments.
Uganda Sevens Committee chairman Desire Derekford Mugumisa described the adjustment as a product of patience and collaboration, highlighting the resilience of all stakeholders.
He also acknowledged Plascon Uganda for their continued sponsorship, noting that their support remains central to the growth of the game.
The Plascon Entebbe 7s is part of the 2025 Nile Special Uganda Sevens, a series that blends competitive rugby with the strengthening of partnerships and community engagement.
