Liverpool’s new right-back Jeremie Frimpong has been sidelined until after the international break with a hamstring injury.
The 24-year-old, who was signed from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5m to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, picked up the injury during his Premier League debut against Bournemouth.
As a result, Frimpong will miss upcoming league matches against Newcastle United and Arsenal.
Speaking at a press conference, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot explained that the substitution of Frimpong during the Bournemouth game was a “good call” by the medical staff, as they had spotted an issue with his hamstring.
“We expect to have him back after the international break,” Slot said.
The injury leaves Liverpool short on options at right-back. While Conor Bradley has just returned to training, Slot noted that Joe Gomez, another player who can cover the position, is also managing his fitness.
Slot, however, remained confident, mentioning that other players like Wataru Endo and Dominik Szoboszlai can also play in that position.
