A proposed transfer for Manchester United’s Antony has dramatically fallen through.
Despite multiple sources from United claiming a deal had been accepted, Real Betis announced they had withdrawn their offer.
The 25-year-old winger had a successful loan spell with the Spanish club last season, and it was widely reported he preferred a permanent move back.
However, Betis stated they “cannot afford a transfer fee, nor the amounts the player is supposed to receive.”
Antony, who cost United £81.3 million, has been one of five players exiled by coach Ruben Amorim this pre-season.
The collapsed deal leaves his future uncertain with the transfer window closing on Monday. His time at United has been widely considered a disappointment since his 2022 arrival.
