More than Shs 3.5 billion was raised today at the 2025 Rotary Cancer Run held at Kololo Independence Grounds to support the construction of a cancer center at St. Francis Hospital Nsambya.
Over 60,000 runners took part in the 14th edition of the annual event, which was held under the theme “Many cancers, one race.” Participants competed in the 5km, 10km, and 21km races, all in support of efforts to raise awareness and fund cancer treatment in Uganda.
Proceeds from this year’s run will go toward completing radiation bunkers at the Nsambya Cancer Center, aimed at improving access to quality medical care for cancer patients.
Next Media Head of Corporate Affairs, Ben Mwine, highlighted the alignment between Rotary Uganda and their partners.
“Our visions are aligned as we look to make Uganda a better place and fight cancer. It’s about transforming the country, and we are proud to work with Rotary Uganda through this partnership,” Mwine said.
Centenary Bank Uganda Managing Director, Fabian Kasi, emphasized the significance of the initiative.
“We’ve been part of this partnership for 13 years, and it gets better every year. This year, with over 60,000 participants and more than Shs 3.5 billion raised, we’ve shown the power of mobilizing communities to achieve big things,” Kasi said.
Since its inception in 2012, the Rotary Cancer Run has become a leading platform for both raising cancer awareness and generating funds to support treatment and care across the country.
