Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa says the club’s summer transfer window was “killed” by financial restrictions.
After being fined by UEFA for breaching financial rules, Villa was forced to operate with a tight budget.
They spent just £33 million in initial fees, the lowest in the Premier League, and sold academy product Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle for £40 million to balance the books.
Despite the limited spending, the club made some key late additions. On transfer deadline day, Villa brought in Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho on loan, as well as free agent Victor Lindelof.
Konsa, who is currently with the England national team, expressed confidence in the new players and his teammates, saying the squad has what it takes to succeed.
Villa has had a challenging start to the 2025-26 season, securing only one point from their first three games. Konsa remains hopeful they can turn their fortunes around after the international break.
