Lugazi fans elected their first executive committee on Saturday, ushering in a fresh leadership team that will serve until 2027.
In the chairmanship race, Mudduse Bob secured a decisive mandate after collecting 426 votes against Kisitu James’ 67. His victory grants him a two year term as head of the fans’ body.
The secretary’s seat went to Nazziwa Catherine, who polled 384 votes to defeat Byaruhanga Vicent with 98. For the role of general fans’ coordinator, Ssali Timothy earned strong backing with 399 votes, comfortably ahead of Birungi Dorothy’s 70.
Publicity was the most competitive contest, with Galabuzi Frank edging past Ochieng Reagan by 48 votes, winning 277 to 229. The women’s representative position went to Nakafu Sarah with 372 votes, beating Nambazira Mary’s 76. Meanwhile, the disciplinary officer slot was secured by Kirumira Richard Kalule, who tallied 350 votes against Namakoola Swaliki’s 114.
These six winners join the unopposed members: vice chairman Mutebi Collins, events and welfare officer Mwesigwa Joan, transport officer Mugerwa Shafiq, and assistant secretary Wassajja Edward. Together they form a ten member committee, which will later appoint a treasurer to complete the 11 man executive.
The newly elected leadership will serve from 2025 to 2027, marking the first formal structure of fan representation at Lugazi.
