Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Altay Bayindir will remain the club’s starting goalkeeper for the Manchester derby, despite the recent £18.1m signing of Senne Lammens.
While Bayindir has made some errors this season, Amorim emphasized his experience, stating, “Altay is going to continue.”
Amorim also praised new arrival Lammens, 23, noting he has “great potential to be our goalkeeper for a number of years.” The move for Lammens came after United chose him over World Cup winner Emi Martinez.
The coach also discussed Andre Onana’s loan move to Trabzonspor. Onana, who struggled with confidence at the club, is not expected to return after his loan expires. “Sometimes you need a change,” Amorim said, suggesting the move was best for the goalkeeper to regain his form.
In other news, Mason Mount, Matheus Cunha, and Diogo Dalot will all miss the upcoming derby due to injury. Additionally, Amorim is keen to preserve the club’s 88-year record of including an academy graduate in every matchday squad.
