Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, the world’s best pole vaulter, shattered his own world record for the 14th time with a stunning 6.30m leap.
The record-breaking jump, made on his final attempt, secured his third consecutive world championship title in Tokyo.
The 25-year-old Swedish star cemented his domination of the sport, winning his eighth straight global gold medal.
After securing the win with a 6.15m clearance, he set the bar at 6.30m, rising to the occasion in front of a mesmerized crowd.
Duplantis, who earned a $100,000 bonus for the new record, expressed his joy, telling the audience, “To be able to give you guys this world record is just amazing.” This marks his fourth world record of the year, his most in a single season.
