Uganda’s Parliament golf team is preparing to defend its crown when the East African Parliamentary Games tee off in the country from December 5 to 17.
Uganda will host the regional competition, which features several sports disciplines, with golf again among the headline events.
The team captain, Hon. Xavier Kyooma, said hosting the tournament provides both a home advantage and a chance to showcase Uganda’s top golf courses.
“This is an opportunity for us not only to play but to show off the beauty of our country,” Kyooma told NBS Sport after a practice round.
“We have many golfers in the House and will hold mini tournaments to select those who qualify. We must be champions on home ground.”
Matches will be played at three premier venues: Uganda Golf Club in Kampala, Entebbe Golf Club, and Lugazi Golf Course. Uganda lifted the golf title at last year’s East African Parliamentary Games and is determined to repeat the feat before a home crowd.
