FUFA president Moses Magogo has called on clubs, fans, and the media to rally behind sweeping changes to the Uganda Premier League, insisting that the reforms will only succeed if all stakeholders stay engaged.

Speaking at FUFA House as the federation unveiled its new Technical Master Plan, Magogo dismissed claims that the changes are being imposed without dialogue.

“Football matters and challenges can never be solved by stage-managing media interviews to give one side of the story,” he said. “We shall keep engaging all stakeholders, including the fans and media. We need all of them to make this a success.”

The reforms restructure the league into a three-phase format and sharply increase prize money from Shs 128 million to Shs 532 million. Clubs will also have to share sporting and business data to drive professional standards.

While some clubs have voiced concerns about the new format, Magogo stressed that patience and open discussion are key.

He noted that FUFA is committed to listening and adjusting where necessary but believes the long-term benefits—more competitive matches, stronger finances, and a product attractive to sponsors, are worth the effort.

Magogo framed the overhaul as a turning point for Ugandan football.

“We need everyone on board to move the game forward,” he said. “This is about building a league that can stand on its own, excite the fans, and draw serious investment.”
