Vipers SC Junior Team ended Bul FC Junior Team’s three-year reign with a 2-1 win in the 2025 FUFA Juniors League final at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, on Wednesday afternoon.
Forward Arafat Nkoola delivered both goals for the Junior Venoms in a tense contest that burst into life after a cautious first half.
Nkoola opened the scoring on the hour mark with a calm finish, only for Bul’s leading scorer Ivan Waturu to level from the penalty spot three minutes later with his 21st strike of the season.
Vipers answered immediately as Nkoola rose high to head home the winner barely a minute after the equaliser.
Bul introduced Uganda Cubs captain Richard Okello and forward Gift Fred Mutalya to chase the game, but Vipers’ defence held firm to secure the club’s third Juniors League title, adding to triumphs in 2015–16 and 2017–18.
The halftime break featured a symbolic moment when Uganda Cranes midfielder Isma Mugulusi, himself a product of the league, carried the trophy onto the pitch to celebrate the competition’s role in developing national talent.
At the awards ceremony, Nkoola was named Most Valuable Player. Bul’s Waturu claimed the Golden Boot, teammate Wanjala Richard won the Golden Glove, and URA FC Junior Team received the Fair Play award.
Since its 2015 launch, the FUFA Juniors League has become a vital pipeline for Uganda’s future stars, producing players such as Allan Okello, Abdu Azizi Kayondo, Travis Mutyaba, Rogers Mato, Kenneth Semakula, and Mugulusi.
