Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton has announced the death of his 12-year-old bulldog, Roscoe, after making the “hardest decision of [his] life” to put him to sleep.
Roscoe died in Hamilton’s arms on Sunday evening, having been on life support since Friday following an admission to the hospital with pneumonia.
The dog’s heart stopped while under sedation for checks, leading to him being placed in a coma before the difficult final decision was made.
Hamilton, who missed a Formula 1 tyre test to be with Roscoe, shared the news with his millions of followers on Instagram, calling Roscoe an “angel and true friend.”
“I feel so grateful and honoured to have shared my life with such a beautiful soul,” Hamilton wrote, reflecting on his loss.
Roscoe was adopted by Hamilton in 2013, alongside a second bulldog, Coco, who died in 2020.
