The SHACK League launched its third season on Sunday, September 28, mixing competitive football with a lively music line-up at Legends Grounds in Kampala.
Powered by Guinness, the opening weekend brought a packed crowd, cold drinks, and a night of nonstop entertainment.
The afternoon belonged to the players. Centennials set the early pace with a 3–1 win over Dicos Brigade, led by a Kinya Emmanuel brace, before adding a 2–0 victory against Kaduce Warriors.
Jabba Gurus edged Jabbarians 2–1, Basajja Bakame eased past Green Cave 3–0, and Apettah Kings beat Mbookya Warriors 2–0. Mbookya bounced back later with a 4–1 rout of Gosha Freaks, while Washington Outlaws slipped past Kawoo Rioters 1–0. Nkonde Kings and Fazo & Sonz played out the day’s only goalless draw.
As the sun set, music took over. City Groove Band opened the evening with a smooth set, warming up a crowd already buzzing with Guinness in hand. The Kaba Challenge by SHACK alumni fired up the fans before Kapeke stepped on stage.
Quex Music had the crowd moving with his evergreen hit Kachumbali. Karole Kasita brought the fire with her track Go, joined by Elijah Kitaka, who followed with soulful favourites including Dawa. NRG Radio’s DJ Vee kept the tempo high with a tight urban and afrobeat mix that stretched deep into the night.
League president Victor Kiyimba said the blend of football and culture captures what the SHACK movement stands for. “This weekend showed exactly what we’re about—competitive football, vibrant culture, and unforgettable experiences,” he said. “We’re not just building a league; we’re building a movement that celebrates community and excellence.”
Guinness echoed the sentiment. “The SHACK League perfectly captures the spirit of bringing people together through sport, music, and energy,” said Mercy Atwongyeire, Project Manager for Premium Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited.
With the season just underway, more drama and big performances, on the pitch and on stage, are expected in the weeks ahead.
