The Lyca Women’s T20 Series served up another lively day at Lugogo Cricket Oval, with Sipi Trekkers breaking their duck and Bujjagali Rafters extending their unbeaten run.
Sipi Trekkers opened the morning with a commanding 30-run win over Karuma Rapids, posting 118 for 7 after being sent in to bat. Stephanie Nampiina anchored the innings with a fluent 65 off 55 balls while Victoria Pearls captain Janet Mbabazi chipped in with 20.
Rapids bowlers Anono Rita Nyero and Amongin Naume Jane claimed two wickets each, but their side faltered in the chase. Kevin Awino offered lone resistance with an unbeaten 47 from 57 balls as the Rapids managed only 88 for 2.
The afternoon game belonged once again to the Rafters. Despite being limited to 92 for 9, they defended the total with precision. Esther Iloku top-scored with 62 off 66, but it was Biribawa Mariam’s devastating spell of 4 for 6 that sealed a 22-run win over Itanda Kayakers.
Sarah Akiteng and Rita Musamali picked two wickets apiece for the Kayakers, who never got going with the bat and finished on 70 for 9.
Heading into today’s finale, Bujjagali Rafters remain the team to beat, with Immaculate Nakisuuyi leading the tournament’s run charts at 205 and sharing top spot for wickets with teammate Biribawa Mariam on 10.
