Everton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is set for a one-match ban after accumulating five yellow cards in just six Premier League games, leading to an outcry from the player and his manager.
Dewsbury-Hall, who will miss Sunday’s match against Crystal Palace, took to social media, calling the quick succession of bookings “mind boggling” and lamenting that some of the decisions were “so hard to take.”
Manager David Moyes supported his £28 million summer signing, branding the latest yellow card (for a challenge against West Ham) a “shabby decision.” Moyes also suggested there was a “general poor level” of officiating across the Premier League right now.
The midfielder’s rapid suspension follows a recent controversial booking against Liverpool where he was cautioned for taking a quick free-kick—a call also widely criticised at the time.
