The Women’s National Basketball League semi-finals return tonight, Friday, October 3, at the YMCA grounds in Wandegeya, with two crucial Game 2 encounters set to shape the direction of the series.
At 7pm, JT Lady Jaguars face Magic Stormers, before UCU Lady Canons take on defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins at 9pm, both games live on NBS Sport.
JT and UCU head into the night buoyed by Game 1 wins. Jaguars dismantled Magic Stormers 63-37, with Mercy Batamuliza delivering 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Shakira Nanvubya added 16.
The Magic Stormers, who relied heavily on Kur Ajah’s 12 points, will need a much stronger showing to avoid falling into a 0-2 hole.
Later, UCU will seek to tighten their grip after a 57-46 victory in which Shillah Lamunu powered them with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
The eight-time record champions are chasing a first title since 2022 and revenge against JKL, who beat them in last year’s finals.
The Dolphins, four-time winners, must recover quickly after shooting just 10 percent from three-point range in Game 1, despite Hope Akello’s 11-point effort.
A win for UCU or JT would put them on the brink of the finals, setting up a potential sweep on Sunday at YMCA.
Victories for JKL or Magic would extend the series to a Game 4 at Lugogo Indoor Arena next Wednesday, with the possibility of a decisive Game 5.
