Rasmus Hojlund completed a second-half comeback for Napoli, scoring the winner in a hard-fought 2-1 victory over winless Genoa at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The victory sends the champions back to the top of the Serie A table, level on points with Roma but leading on goal difference.
Genoa took a surprise lead in the 33rd minute when Jeff Ekhator scored with a backheel finish. Napoli struggled initially, despite dominating possession, but levelled after the break through Frank Anguissa’s header (57′).
The equaliser followed the introduction of substitute Kevin de Bruyne, whose run immediately created chaos in the Genoa defence.
Hojlund then pounced on a rebound in the 75th minute to secure the three points, marking his fourth goal since his summer arrival.
The win was marred by injuries to Napoli’s Stanislav Lobotka and Matteo Politano. Genoa, managed by Patrick Vieira, remain in the relegation zone without a victory after six games.
